Outdoor GPS video for a Bluetooth home treadmill.

Filmed roads for a walk or a run. Playback follows your effort on the treadmill you already own.

TerraFlo route playback: a Paris run toward the Eiffel Tower with live speed, heart rate, time, distance, and grade overlays

Built for the treadmill first

TerraFlo is an indoor training app for people who walk and run on a home treadmill and want a real outdoor road on screen. You pick a route and go. The video was filmed on that road with GPS, so playback follows your effort. It speeds up when you push, slows down when you ease off, and waits when you stop.

The first customer is the treadmill walker or runner who already owns the deck. Pair over Bluetooth. TerraFlo finds the controls, the signals, and the limits, then keeps learning that setup over time. You do not fill in a spec sheet. Route grade can drive incline when the machine exposes it. You start the belt. TerraFlo never does. If you already have music or an audiobook playing, TerraFlo leaves it. If nothing is playing, it starts your Apple Music playlist.

Indoor cycling on a smart trainer uses the same routes, and it stays a full part of the product. It does not lead this page. You can start now on iPhone (or iPad) and Apple TV. TerraFlo is in early access. There is no App Store listing to download yet. TerraFlo (terraflo.fit) is an indoor training app from Hidden Mesa Labs, LLC. It is not TerraFlow Geomatics, a surveying company.

Apps people use for treadmill outdoor video

People ask which app can put an outdoor road on a home treadmill. Kinomap, Zwift, iFIT, BitGym, and console video are the names that usually come up. Here is where a treadmill-first GPS video app sits among them.

Kinomap for a home treadmill

A treadmill walker who wants outdoor video will often find Kinomap. Kinomap plays real-world video on treadmills, bikes, rowers, and other machines, with Bluetooth control on equipment that speaks to it.

TerraFlo is narrower on purpose. The session starts as a treadmill walk or run on a filmed GPS road. You pick a route and go. The video follows your effort, and route grade can drive incline when the treadmill exposes it. A smart-trainer ride is the same kind of session. It comes after the treadmill in this story. TerraFlo is in early access on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Zwift, Rouvy, and FulGaz for a treadmill run

A treadmill run is not the workout Zwift, Rouvy, and FulGaz are built around. They are cycling-first. Zwift is a virtual world, and it includes running inside that world. Rouvy and FulGaz are built around the bike. They are strong choices when the session is a ride.

TerraFlo starts from the treadmill. The picture is GPS-synced video of a real outdoor road, and playback speed follows the walk or run. A smart trainer can use the same routes. TerraFlo is not a claim to replace those cycling apps.

iFIT on a NordicTrack or ProForm treadmill

A NordicTrack or ProForm treadmill usually means iFIT. Coached classes and scenic video on those consoles are often tied to that hardware and to an iFIT membership. That is a good fit when you want the console's own world.

TerraFlo does not replace iFIT, and it does not ask you to change the console software. Official Bluetooth on these decks is not belt speed, and incline stays on the machine. Start the belt in manual mode and watch the route on a phone, tablet, or TV. A paid iFIT membership is not required to walk or run that way. A clip-on belt sensor such as the NPE Runn is how video can follow your pace when iFIT does not send speed.

BitGym, YouTube, and built-in treadmill video

A treadmill session with BitGym, a scenic YouTube channel, or the built-in console is a view while you walk or run. You set the speed and the incline. That is enough when the picture is only there to look at.

TerraFlo ties the filmed road to GPS. Playback speed follows your effort. When the treadmill exposes incline over Bluetooth, route grade can move it, inside the limits the machine reports. You still start the belt. TerraFlo does not claim 4K or 60 fps video.

Questions about treadmill outdoor video

What apps make a home treadmill feel like outside?

Kinomap, BitGym, YouTube and scenic channels, built-in console video, and iFIT sessions are the names people usually see for a treadmill. TerraFlo is the treadmill-first option for real outdoor GPS video on a Bluetooth treadmill you already own. Zwift, Rouvy, and FulGaz answer a cycling question first.

Does TerraFlo work with a Bluetooth or FTMS treadmill?

If your treadmill connects over Bluetooth, TerraFlo will pair it and learn it, including models that are not on a brand page. FTMS is one way a treadmill reports speed and, on some models, accepts incline. Exact controls depend on what that unit exposes. Two machines of the same brand can differ. You start the belt. TerraFlo never does.

Can I use TerraFlo on Apple TV with an iPhone or iPad?

Yes. The beta runs on iPhone (or iPad) and Apple TV. The TV is the workout screen, and Apple TV sign-in uses a QR code on your phone. Android is coming soon. There is no App Store listing to download yet.

Will route grade change treadmill incline?

When the treadmill exposes incline, route grade can drive it inside the limits the machine reports. You can turn route-driven incline off mid-session. If the console does not expose incline, you change grade on the machine. NordicTrack and ProForm iFIT consoles do not expose incline to third-party apps.

Can I export a treadmill session?

Completed sessions can go to Strava, Apple Health, Health Connect, or a TCX file. Strava uploads are labeled as virtual indoor workouts with the route name attached. Workouts are private by default. TerraFlo does not offer direct TrainingPeaks or Garmin Connect export.

Is TerraFlo generally available, or still in beta?

TerraFlo is in early access. Join the beta on iPhone (or iPad) and Apple TV. The Android form is for when that beta is ready. It is not a general public App Store launch.

Is TerraFlo a jailbreak for an iFIT treadmill?

No. TerraFlo does not ask you to change the console software. On an iFIT treadmill you start the belt in manual mode. The NPE Runn is the honest way for video to follow your pace when the console does not send belt speed.
